British artist Thomas Medland's "Autumn" is an original 18th century stipple engraving created for James Thomson's "The Seasons" in 1792 based upon a design by Johann Martin Metz & or Caroline Metz. The scene depicts a stag hunt in the forest. Dogs have surrounded the stag and the huntsmen advance from the background. This original stipple engraving is printed upon late 18th century wove paper with full margins as published by John Murray in 1792. This impression contains the title, "Autumn", the engraver's name, "Medland Sculpt", the designer's name, "Metz delt.", and the publisher's address, "London, publd. Decr 1. 1792 by I. Murray No. 32 Fleet Street" along the bottom. J
